Pharmaceutical company expands with North East graduate
An expanding North East pharmaceuticals company has bolstered its team by taking on a young graduate who studied in the region.
After winning some lucrative contracts, Prudhoe based SCM Pharma is continuing its recruitment drive and has hired the services of Northumbria University graduate, Michal Johnson.
Having successfully completed a degree in Applied Biology, 24-year-old Michal has joined the microbiology team where he will be responsible for the environmental monitoring of the company’s state-of-the-art facility and product testing all of the products held at the site.
He said: “After graduating last summer, I was keen on finding a graduate role within the North East. When I was given the chance, I jumped at the opportunity.
“I am really enjoying working in a team that plays a vital role in helping to ensure quality, which is essential for a drug manufacturer. I’m looking forward to the opportunity and seeing my projects through from start to finish.”
With two sites in Prudhoe and Stocksfield, SCM Pharma works with some of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical companies and offers them the opportunity to help get their drugs onto the market.
Commenting on the latest recruit, Shirley Dann, managing director of the firm, said: “Michael brings a good foundation of knowledge to the business coupled with exceptional enthusiasm and ambition that fits very well with the culture of our organisation.
“As we continue to grow the company, we feel it is essential to have a good mix of skills within the business. Our bright new graduate will hopefully bring some fresh ideas.”
