Ward Hadaway wins regulatory team of the year at Manchester Legal Awards
A leading Northern law firm based in Manchester has won regulatory team of the year at the 2023 Manchester Legal Awards.
Ward Hadaway’s specialist regulatory team was praised for the expertise it provides to clients and its strong growth across its national client base.
The team conducts its own advocacy and is led by one of the most highly skilled lawyers in the regulatory sector Rachel Birks, partner at Ward Hadaway, who is also Chair of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers and a Legally Qualified Chair at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service. The team includes experienced managing associate Fameeda Shafiq who is a member of the steering committee for the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Asian Business Network and talented solicitor Catriona Thomson, who trained with the firm. The department is also supported by a paralegal and administrative team.
Liz Bottrill, executive partner in Ward Hadaway’s Manchester office, said: “Winning regulatory team of the year is a testament to the exceptional talent and expertise of the team. The award win demonstrates our innovation and dedication to excellence in regulatory law, helping us to stand out from other law firms across the region. The win also reflects the continued growth of the Manchester office and expansion of our client base, positioning us as a trusted and respected partner for clients in need of expert legal support. Congratulations to the team, it’s very well deserved.”
Since it was established in 2012, Ward Hadaway’s Manchester office has continued to go from strength to strength. The office, which reported a 25% increase in turnover last year, now employs nearly 60 professionals serving a diverse range of clients across the North West and nationally.
Partner Rachel Birks, head of the regulatory team in Manchester, said: “Our team has consistently delivered a high-quality legal service, and this award acknowledges the great work we have delivered and our expertise in regulation, particularly in the niche area of professional discipline. We are continually learning and evolving and our success at this year’s Manchester Legal Awards reflects our hard work and commitment to developing our lawyers, enabling them to provide first class regulatory advice and support to our clients, in turn supporting them in achieving their own strategic objectives. It’s wonderful to receive this recognition and to win such a prestigious award.”
